Looking Back to the Future: A Glimpse at Twenty Years of Data Science

This paper carries out a lightweight review to explore the potentials of data science in last two decades and especially focuses on four essential components: resources, technologies, infrastructures, education. Considering barriers science, analysis has been mapped into components, highlighting priorities challenges social cultural, epistemological, scientific technical, economic, legal, ethical aspects. As result, future development tends shift toward datafication, technicity, infrastructuralism, literacy empowerment. The ecosystem, at macro level, also analyzed under open umbrella, providing snapshot for science.
